Sandvik is set to be one of the leading innovators at this year’s Schweissen & Schneiden (welding & cutting) fair in Germany, the world’s biggest showcase for welding and cutting technology.
The fair, to be held 25–29 September in Düsseldorf, includes more than 1,000 exhibitors and is anticipated to attract around 55,000 visitors.
Visitors to Sandvik’s booth G23, in Hall 11, will see a demonstration of new, more robust and cost-efficient materials as well as new techniques that save welding costs and improve quality. The company’s latest stainless steel and nickel alloys, for example, achieve greater consistency between heats and batches which allows for trouble-free welding and high quality welding joints.
Peter Stones, Global Product Manager, said: “Innovative materials such as these represent a real milestone for the welding industry. Not only do they reduce costs and improve quality, they also determine how this type of work will be done in the future. This means that they can make a real difference to welders’ lives all over the world.”

In addition, a new super duplex filler wire will be presented at the exhibition for welding specifications that specify type UNS 32760. This product launch promises to unlock a wider scope of opportunities for welders.
Sandvik is also taking a front line role in the advancement of welding techniques and skills. It has developed its own Welding Handbook that can be downloaded from the company website, as well as a dedicated Welding App for smartphones. The app provides extensive information on the planning and execution of welding operations and includes calculators for assessing various welding challenges.
As well as meeting its specialists at Schweissen & Schneiden, Sandvik invites welding professionals to improve their knowledge further by joining its new LinkedIn group, called Welding and Materials. Here, practitioners share their experiences and Sandvik specialists offer expert advice on everything from the selection of materials to problem solving.
